I wanted more out of my Tetra Whisper 40 aquarium filter's stock cartridge setup, so I took matters into my own hands and created a versatile bio-media basket that can be easily customized to meet my needs. To set it up, simply fill the front compartment with your preferred biological media (ceramic rings, Matrix, or bio-balls) and reserve the back for mechanical filtration (sponge or floss). Once you've loaded it up, just pop the basket into your filter housing and let it get to work.\r\n\r\nI personally like to start by attaching a pre-filter sponge to my intake tube, then fill the rear compartment with inexpensive floss batting, while reserving the front for ceramic bio-rings.
