<p>Originally published here: <a href="https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3392266">Tethys scaled one in ten million by tato_713 - Thingiverse</a></p><p>This model was rendered using MATLAB R2016a on the ICQ model of the PSI made by Robert Gaskell from the data of the Cassini mission. It's scaled to 1 in 107 or one in ten million. This model is about 10 cm in diameter. On this scale the Moon is a basketball and Mars' moons Phobos and Deimos are 2 and 1 mm respectively.</p><p>The file's names explained: <i>name_1_x_10_y.stl</i> is 1 : x* 10^y. So _1_6_10_7 is 1:600000000 or one in 60 million.</p><h4>S3 Tethys</h4><p>Tethys is the fifth biggest moon of <a href="https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3930295">Saturn</a>, slightly smaller than <a href="https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3394531">Dione</a>. Its orbit around Saturn is in resonance with that of <a href="https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3368027">Mimas</a>. Unlike with other resonant moons the influence of the gravity between them is not enough to produce tidal heating that could sustain a liquid subsurface ocean. The most notable feature of Tethys is the Odysseus crater, similar in relative size to the Mimas' Herschel Crater. Like other icy moons of Saturn, its surface is grooved by many valleys like the Ithaca Chasma. It has two 30 km co-orbital moons at Lagrangian points L4 and L5 named <a href="https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3907487">Telesto and Calypso</a>.</p><ul><li><strong>Type:</strong> Satellite </li><li><strong>Orbit:</strong> Saturn.
