Test tube connectors for Modular Ant Formicarium
thingiverse
I've designed a variety of connectors to link test tubes to the Modular Ant Formicarium, created by caswal on Thingiverse (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:476168). There are three models for each connector size: 16mm, 14mm, and 12mm test tube. I tested these connectors with a two-layer shell, a three-layer top and bottom surface, and a 0.3mm layer height. The infill is set to 20%. To prevent the ants from invading the new space quickly, I recommend filling the holes in the connections with a small amount of cotton. My Messor barbarus ants can become stressed when their environment changes, and they may die if introduced to a new area too rapidly. To avoid this issue, I suggest covering the holes of the connectors with a thin layer of cotton. The ants will eventually remove the cotton and occupy the new space within a few hours. For more details on these connectors, please refer to the images uploaded to Thingiverse. To print the connectors, watch the video at https://youtu.be/fnzRs0XQHIU.
