Test Jig #2 - Clock Script
thingiverse
The clock script for the current version of this test jig has been enhanced based on feedback from users like rustedrobot who printed several versions of the printable clock project on Thingiverse. The script is available on GitHub and requires the MCAD/involute_gear library and my clockwork library. Improvements include herringbone gears, lowered pressure angle, a minimum number of gears for testing escapements, flanged drums on all wheels, and more. Print one of each STL file or customize parameters before generating new STLs to print. The test jig requires two shafts for gears and another two for the frame, with M3 being the recommended size without drilling. Four tests must be performed to ensure proper functioning of the escapement mechanism. Print modified parts 02b and 03b instead of original parts as they have been improved based on feedback. The latest clock-builder script uses club teeth for better printing quality, and several users have successfully completed all four tests with this version. An improved back frame (part 5b) and a variant escapement (part 03c) are also available. Print part 01b instead of drilling a hole in the drum to attach the string.
