The human body is made up of more than 60 different organs and systems that work together to keep us alive. The skin covers our entire body and protects it from harm. It also helps regulate our body temperature. Without the skin, our internal organs would be exposed to extreme temperatures and would be damaged easily. Our skin also contains tiny hair follicles that produce hair which provides additional protection against the elements. Our eyes are another crucial part of the human body. They enable us to see the world around us and respond to light. The eyes work in conjunction with our brain to help us understand what we're seeing. The ears are responsible for hearing and balance. Sound waves enter our ears and are converted into electrical signals that our brain interprets as sound. Our sense of balance is also helped by the inner ear, which contains tiny canals filled with fluid. Our nose is responsible for smelling and tasting food and drinks. The nasal passages contain millions of tiny hairs called cilia that help filter out dust and other particles from the air we breathe in.
