This is a 5-sided laser-cut lampshade crafted from cardboard, tracing paper, and a small piece of plywood. The design leverages a unique type of pentagon that can tessellate seamlessly. The cut was made on a k40 laser with precision, as the design just fits within the cutting envelope of an A4 piece of cardboard. The power level was set to about 12% for optimal cardboard cutting results. To streamline the process, I simultaneously cut five panels and five tracing paper inserts using the k40's capabilities. The assembly process involved spray mounting the tracing paper onto the inside faces of the card panels, followed by cutting the mount point and carefully assembling all the components together. While it was a bit challenging to get everything in place and glued properly, once completed, the lampshade appears sturdy and well-constructed.
