Tessellating Flower Coaster Reloaded

The original design of my tessellating flower coaster employed filament swap for color changes; however, this method proved unreliable when transitioning from PLA to ABS due to poor adhesion. Thus, a re-design using an inlay method was necessary to allow for multiple colored petals and ensure seamless fitting. The coaster requires 78 petals per design and should be printed with heat-reactive ABS filament. To maintain accuracy, calipers must be used to set up profiles for each plastic type in the slicer. Smoothing tools can help refine edges, while model or super glue secures petals in place. Coasters designed for hot drinks necessitate ABS petals that protrude above the base, while delicate surfaces may require an additional base attachment and heat testing with chosen filament.
