Tesla VTOL Aircraft Model Just an initial version, mechanical components will be next to develop. I'm thinking of revamping the alerons to a pipe drive system with cables connecting them. An electric hybrid engine from something like the Ford Escape Hybrid (150 hp) might be a great option when geared properly for heavier planes. Usually good till 600k km these days (1 million miles), at least some go till 800k km or 8,000 hours for a plane. The sweet spot could get you close to double the hours where batteries + extra capacitors like it (supposedly hemp supercaps are the next big thing). A 300Ah battery is an extra 200 lb probably so too much for this smaller 3-seater. A 70-80 hp boat or 250cc, 80hp dirtbike motor might work okay for 2 people. Paramotor powerplants are a great choice if you can find them for under $1000. 50 watts per lb so 20 hp per 250 lb person. Design seats 3. Probably 26 to 40 feet wing span by guess. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEqCt7GZo7M some great advice for wings. I was planning on making a 3D printed Coanda flyer one day too for VTOL.
