With the spartan interior of my M3 it was tough to find a spot for my phone on the dash. The revolutionary air vent tech is amazing, but it's not compatible with any commercial phone vent mounts out there. I searched Thingiverse after making my design and found a Heads-up Display version that also looks like an interesting solution. I started in Tinkercad with this phone stand (remixed) which looked big enough to fit my phone and wallet sleeve. After about 10 printed iterations (designed with caliper and trial/error) I came up with this phone stand. It clips into the bottom vent holes securely anywhere along the dashboard. I'd love it if someone could remix this design to make a phone mount or associate it with a modular mounting system. The clip also seems secure enough to hang a bag from. Disclaimers: Distracted driving is dangerous and use at your own risk, but I wouldn't recommend using this for anything other than GPS/maps. Although the M3 cabin should prevent heating over 100degF, I'd be worried about PLA melting in hot weather. Take care not to let pieces of your print break off/fall into the vent mechanism because it would be hard to get them out! I didn't find the small footprint of the vent clip to interfere with the cabin airflow, but interference seems possible.
