Tesla Model 3 owners of 2019 and 2020 can easily remove the hatch when adding a trailer hitch, but this leaves a large hole that needs to be covered. Two solutions exist - either cut out the original hatch or design and print a new one to replace it when not using the hitch. This DIY solution fits perfectly around the Torklift 1 1/4 inch hitch model 7374, while the model 7373 is also likely compatible with this setup. Keep in mind that this project is still a work in progress, and the design isn't perfect yet, but it does an excellent job of covering the hole with minimal exposed area remaining. Included are 3D printed 1/4 inch bolts for extra reinforcement, but their strength remains uncertain. They're currently being tested to see if they'll be sufficient for this application.
