As an ardent Waze enthusiast, I required a sturdy cradle to display Waze vertically within my line of sight without any compromises. Commercial cradles often wobble or utilize faulty suction cups, which can be frustrating and unreliable. Version one served me well for a full year, but it had its drawbacks - it was somewhat unsightly. I created version two using ABS and PLA. The PLA exhibited significant warping within a week, whereas the ABS performed admirably even in extreme temperatures of 140-150 F during my week-long vacation in Florida. However, it's essential to note that results may vary over time. Version three is my final iteration, printed in PLA at increased settings - 105% on both X and Y axes, and 98% on the Z axis. To ensure minimal shrinkage, I opted for 100% density, but this might have been an excessive precaution. If you're using PLA or Tough PLA, it's crucial to anneal your prints. I utilize a home convection oven to heat them up to 170 F and place them on a ceramic tile at the bottom of the oven. After an hour, I turn off the oven and allow the prints to cool down inside with the door closed for three hours or more. The base holder attaches to the rear of the touch screen using velcro. The cradle is secured to the holder via two M4-35mm bolts and two M4 wingnuts, although the tolerance is loose, making it compatible with various sizes. Once installed, you can easily slide the cradle over the screen and tighten everything to prevent any movement. If necessary, you can resize the cradle before printing to accommodate your phone. This design supports both Galaxy Note 9+ and Note 10+, allowing for ideal placement due to its two-piece system.
