The extension adds a mere 10mm to accommodate a compact 10mm wide LED strip. I opted for a standard 12V RGB LED strip, as I had extended 12V power into the dock area, but a 5V single-color LED strip would also work seamlessly. The density of the LEDs is notable, making this extension perfect for a dense 6-LED strip. For my specific setup, I employed right-angle joints and straight connectors, carefully soldering the right-angle joint flush underneath the LED strip to join it with the connector. This ensured a secure and professional-looking connection. The joint and trailing power wire occupy the space of the left side phone cable, which suits me perfectly since I use that side for my 15W wireless charger. Meanwhile, the right side cable remains usable as normal, and its raised position makes connecting the phone even easier when it's enclosed in a case. I chose a Bluetooth 12V controller to control the LED strip, allowing me to change colors via my phone app and synchronize them with the rest of the car lighting for a cohesive look.
