Tesla Coil Spark Gap
thingiverse
This prototype Spark Gap is specifically designed for use with 1/4" - 20 x 3/4" pan head screws, although 1/2" long screws may also work. To ensure optimal performance, it's crucial to avoid galvanized screws and opt for stainless steel instead. Aluminum or brass, being more conductive materials, would be ideal if available. However, prolonged use of this spark gap will cause the screws to heat up significantly, potentially melting the holder in the process. Additionally, exposure to UV light and ozone means this is not a long-term solution. To achieve proper fitment, scale the print to oversize by 2 mm in all directions. The threads may be tight, so if necessary, apply a small amount of oil or enlarge the design slightly to ensure smooth operation.
