Because most individuals find themselves repeatedly checking their phone out of habit, I concluded that a desktop notification system alone wouldn't be enough to break an average person's phone-checking routine. Terrapin aims to boost productivity by establishing a mental and physical divide between the user and their phone while offering a lighthearted visual style and engaging interaction. Just like its namesake, the device hides away in its shell, shielding itself from the outside world until it's safe to emerge again. When you twist its shell open, the phone is concealed and a display is revealed, showcasing email and social media notifications, incoming call details, alarms, and scheduled event reminders. Social media alerts are designed to be non-persistent, as they often serve as distractions; users can customize them to appear for as long as needed.
