ARCHITECTURAL TERRACOTTAELEMENTS DATING AFTER 540 BCThe architectural terracotta elements from the south-eastern sector of the Acropolis belong to the period following the great urban restructuring works; these culminated with the configuration of the terracing of Temple C's temenos and with the construction of this temple, which probably began approximately in 540 BC and ended towards the year 510 BC.The bulk of these terracotta items is constituted by pieces of the outer covering of Temple C, among which we find fragments of Gorgon's masks relating to other phases of the temple or to other buildings.Also, there are several fragments of clay statues coming from the Temple C area, which are believed to be acroteria or votive offerings.Other architectural features belonging to later buildings are the "stylised" anthemia (floral architectural decorations), which probably derive from models made of marble, and the antefixes in the shape of a Gorgon's mask; depicting sionts: lane clan, godson is no antelixes Also the so-called "Outer Covering C" comprises architectural terracotta items of the same generation. In fact, it is characterised by the use of maze patterns as a decorative motif, elaborated in various shapes, and also by a certain attention in the execution, as witnessed by the engraved division into squares that was used as a guide for the drawing. Fragments of these exterior architectural elements have been discovered in the large area around the temenos of Temple C.
