Terminator Arm that WORKS!

Terminator Arm that WORKS!

thingiverse

Hello everyone, I've decided to create a functional 3D printable Terminator 1 Arm that's available for all to use. Wires and springs are integrated into the hand pistons, allowing mechanically operated fingers to close due to tension. Releasing this tension causes the fingers to straighten out. I've uploaded an unsmoothed version of the design so you can easily make modifications, excluding the wrist part. I printed each component individually, but you can try printing it in one go as I have provided it. Items labeled with an X3 should be duplicated three times, while items marked with an X15 should be duplicated 15 times. Since tubing is easier to find than print, I recommend visiting your local hardware store for tubing, shafts, and screws unless you already have them lying around like me. Printing in ABS is also recommended as it allows you to solvent weld parts or repair them easily if they break. If you have any questions or requests, please leave a comment below and I'll do my best to respond. I'm planning to post a making-of video on YouTube soon, so be sure to check it out for more information. For now, visit www.antsinafrica.co.za for additional details. Have fun printing and enjoy your new Terminator 1 Arm! Print Settings: Printer Brand: Ultimaker Printer: Ultimaker 2 Rafts: Yes Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.1mm Infill: 25-50% Notes: Printed in ABS at 0.1mm resolution at 60mm per second. Not all parts require support, only minor support is needed for some finger components. I recommend printing a brim on all parts as a raft might not be strong enough. Post-Printing: All parts were lightly sanded and brushed with acetone before spraying. While it's not necessary, I'm a perfectionist. Some parts need to be solvent welded together or glued if PLA is used. Designing This Arm: A quick 10-minute video shows me designing, printing, and building the arm. This is a response to a question/request by cyclone for a build video. Enjoy!
