Tent protector pad for Helinox Lite Cot
prusaprinters
There are articles and stories all over the internet about cots damaging the floor of tents. Cots generally have hard plastic feet and can damage the floor of your tent if you're on rocks (like one finds in nature, especially on tent pads that are gravel). I refuse to go camping without my Helinox Lite Cot, but I also don't want to damage the floor of my tent. Sure, you can cut felt pads and hope they stick and that the maybe 3 mm of cushion they give is adequate for conforming to rocks and preventing damage, but I decided to use this an an excuse to play with TPU and make pads to securely slip onto my cot to protect the floor. These will fit a Helinox Lite Cot (purchased Nov 2020; I can't guarantee they haven't changed the design before/after that time). Looking at pictures on Helinox's site, I think these will also fit the Cot Max and Cot One, but I don't have one of those to test fit (if someone tests these on those cots, let me know the results!). These stretch slightly to fit around the flange part of the cot feet and will stay on until you stretch them again to remove. You can fit a set of 8 in the factory Helinox sack along with the cot, but they do need to be removed before putting the cot in the bag as they add enough bulk that I couldn't fit the cot with them attached. As an added bonus, the TPU feet make the cot not slip around, so it won't slide if you shift side to side at night. I printed these in NinjaFlex 85A with 10% infill and no supports (the small pads in contact with the print surface).
