Tent Ball / Tarp Ball - for Pyramid Shelter with or without pole
thingiverse
If you have a pyramid type tent, something with a pointy peak, or you use a tarp to make such a shelter, you're probably gonna be using a tent pole or a trekking pole to hold it up. This device will help if you're not carrying a pole and need to make your shelter using a stick or something else not made for the job, or you want to support it from above instead.Screwed together as a ball, you put this under the peak, then wrap some cordage around the top, cinching it in place then tie the cordate to a tree or something to hold your shelter up from above. The ball stops the cordage slipping off. No pole means more space inside! With a stick, unscrew the ball and use either side over the top of the stick to protect your tarp/tent (if you sharpen the pole use the side which is made to support that). I carry one of these with a light weight tarp, and with my Ultralight tent, to give me pitching options without needing to carry a pole. I printed in PETG with 0.8mm and 20% fill and it works fine - it's probably ok with 10% but it doesn't make much difference to the weight. PLA will also work fine.
