Tension Nut Filament Guide with Flange for 3/4" PVC Pipe
thingiverse
New upgrade! I installed a customizable flange on my filament guide, inspired by the design of my tension nut. This way, large spools with substantial hubs remain securely in place throughout long unattended print sessions, and the risk of filament looping off the roll is eliminated. The custom tension nut I created allows for effortless installation without any additional hardware. Although a screw is optional, it's available if extra security is desired. Notably, both sides of the flange feature large fillets, ensuring that filament flows through seamlessly and easily accommodating diverse spool types. For added efficiency, insert a small square of foam in front of the flange, pushing the filament gently as it passes through. This foam effectively removes loose particles and dust on the filament before they reach your extruder. I use this combined solution, including thing 737155's tension nut, to consistently print high-quality cameras at pinholeprinted.com. Instructions: To replicate this upgrade, print using ABS material with a nozzle size of 0.4mm and layer height set at 0.25mm, incorporating 25% infill density. Do not forget to enable support generation in your slicer software for the flange.
