
Ten Tetrahedra Tree Topper

Create a tree topper with ten tetrahedra, known as the Ten Tetrahedra Tree Topper (TTTT). It can be made using a 250mm diameter two-piece model, illustrating a polyhedral compound. The project was developed and printed using SpaceClaim software on an Objet 260 printer with PolyJet Vero Clear. The design is included for printers of similar size or those requiring fewer support structures. Assembled using all thread, a custom "pentanut" washer, a regular washer, and a nut, the TTTT uses 50 individually addressable LEDs (WS2801) from Adafruit. These are driven by a Trinket mini Arduino-like CPU. The source code for the topper is available on Github, while the tree itself features 300 LEDs controlled by an old Lilypad Arduino.
