Tempranillo, a black grape variety indigenous to Northern Spain, is renowned for producing full-bodied wine. Named after the Spanish word 'temprano' meaning 'early,' it ripens weeks ahead of other Spanish red grapes. A grape varietal that has been cultivated in the Iberian Peninsula since Phoenician settlements, Tempranillo is the key ingredient in Rioja wines and is often referred to as Spain's noble grape. While it lacks the aromatic profile of Cabernet Sauvignon or Pinot Noir, it boasts a ruby red hue, low acidity, and low sugar content when bottled as a single varietal. Tempranillo is frequently blended with other varieties like Grenache and Carignan (called Mazuelo in Rioja) or aged in oak barrels to absorb the barrel's flavor. When blended as a varietal, it exhibits flavors of plum and strawberries, a brighter red color, and increased acidity. The Tempranillo Pour set features a high-resolution crystal decanter with a cork stopper instead of a conventional wine bottle.
