From the display at AMNH - The description refers to a model of the Temple of the Sun, which this scan is a fragment from: The model below showcases the so-called Temple of the Sun at Palenque, a renowned site celebrated for its sophisticated architecture and stunning stucco sculptures that adorn its buildings. Palenque temples boast an unusual sanctuary in the form of a small building located at the back of the inner room, and a sloping mansard-like roof that adds to their unique character. Typical is the crest-like structure on the roof, known as a roof comb, which increases the building's height and serves as a base for intricate stucco sculptures. Fragments remain of the sculpture that also covered the sloping roof panels.
