The spatial documentation of Djemila occurred during two field campaigns in 2013 & 2014, utilizing terrestrial laser-scanning technology. This collaborative research project was undertaken jointly with Prof. Hamza Zeghlache from the University of Setif. The project falls under the umbrella of the intergovernmental Algeria/South Africa research cooperation program, overseen by the Algerian Direction Generale de la Recherche et du Developpement Technologique and the National Research Foundation (NRF) of South Africa. In 2020, we have successfully integrated Reality Capture to add color texture to the Temple of Septimius Severus 3D model. Djemila, previously known as Cuicul, is a small mountain village located in Algeria, situated near the northern coast east of Algiers. This region is home to some of North Africa's most well-preserved Berbero-Roman ruins. Specifically, Djemila is situated at the border of the Constantinois and Petite Kabylie (Basse Kabylie) regions. In 1982, Djemila was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its unique adaptation of Roman architecture in a mountainous environment.
