Templates for coasters

These templates are perfect for making coasters. There are two files - one with a flat surface and the other with a notch. Make one yourself! Design steps: If you want to know how I design a 2D picture into a 3D model, check out this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6cmClwLhz8 (it's under 6 minutes). You can download Blender for free from here: https://www.blender.org/download/. Inkscape is also available for free at this link: https://inkscape.org/nl/download/ - the shortcuts will appear on your desktop. 'Positive' coaster: Pick a logo from your browser and save it in svg format in Inkscape (watch the video). Open the svg file in Blender and turn it into a 3D object (STL). First, open the template coaster with notch in Meshmixer (free). Then import the 3D model and select 'yes' to automatically resize it to match your coaster with notch. In Meshmixer, you can fix any issues using the 'Inspector' button under the 'Analysis' tab. Scale, move, or combine the logo image on the coaster as needed. After fixing the coaster in Netfabb, you're done! 'Negative' coaster: Pick a logo from your browser and save it in svg format in Inkscape (watch the video). Open the svg file in Blender and turn it into a 3D object. I use 123D Design (free) to subtract the 3D model of the flat coaster template. First, scale the logo in Meshmixer by opening a coaster first and then the logo afterwards - this will automatically scale it to match a coaster. Save only the resized logo and fix it in Netfabb for a better result using 123D Design (Netfabb Online Service is a free STL repairing service). Select the subtract function in 123D design, click on the coaster, then the logo, and enter. Simple logos can be subtracted easily this way in 123D design. After fixing the coaster in Netfabb, you're done! Always preview your creation in your slicer (I use Cura for free).
