The MS-21 is a series of twin-engine Russian jet airliners with a capacity of 150-212 passengers, being developed and produced by Irkut and Yakovlev Design Bureau of the United Aircraft Corporation UAC group. The design is based on the two-engine Yak-242 as a development of the three-engine Yak-42. According to Deputy Premier Dmitry Rogozin, the MS-21 will again be known as Yak-242 in serial production. The MS-21 was planned to replace Tupolev Tu-154 and Tupolev Tu-204/214 aircraft. Delivery and certification were initially set for 2016 but were delayed until 2017. A total of 195 aircraft were ordered by the end of MAKS 2013.
