Template for measuring and adjusting the steps per millimeter on direct extruders (no bowden) type artillery sidewinde X1 and specific for 1.75 filament. Insert the filament mounted inside the cavity of the template with the lower part resting on a fixed point of reference (Ptfe terminal) and mark the initial part with paper tape or a felt-tip pen. The template is calibrated for 200 mm. The extrusion commands are set in EEprom so as to extrude 180 mm (the necessary commands are indicated as a reminder on the template itself) taking care to preheat the extruder to the dedicated temperature of the filament that will be used. We measure how much filament is left after the end of the extrusion and subtract this difference from 200. Then we proceed to the calculation (always shown as a reminder on the right side of the template) 180 divided (200 minus the difference measured) and multiply the result for the value previously obtained with the eeprom M503 command at item m92 E (xxx), that is, for the value of E currently set. All that remains is to send the M92 E command (new calculated xxx) in eeprom and save (important) with the M500 command. It would be excellent to repeat the operation from the beginning for further verification. The advice is to use this adjustment procedure before each filament change, in particular if you change the material (especially from Pla to Petg) remembering from the beginning of the procedure to bring the extrusion temperature to the values dedicated to the type of material. (ps: in the previous publication I encountered a setting error which I immediately corrected. The .stl file is now correct in the reminder formula)
