The Bombardier BD-100 Challenger 300 is a super mid-sized jet capable of traversing long distances. It was initially called the Bombardier Continental during its launch at the Paris Air Show on July 13, 1999. The clean sheet design was assembled in Bombardier's Learjet plant at Wichita Mid-Continent airport, Kansas and later renamed in September 2002 after much debate about its category. It entered commercial service in January 2004 with a crew of two (pilot and co-pilot) and can accommodate up to 16 passengers (normally 8). The aircraft has a length of 20.93 meters, a wingspan of 19.46 meters, a height of 6.2 meters, and a wing area of 48.5 square meters. It weighs 10,591 kilograms empty and can take off with a maximum weight of 17,622 kilograms. The jet is powered by 2 x Honeywell HTF7000 turbofan engines, each producing 30.36 kN (6,825 lbf) thrust. It has a maximum speed of 891 km/h (554 mph; 481 kn), a cruising speed of 850 km/h, and a range of 5,741 kilometers at 0.78 Mach. Its service ceiling is 13,716 meters, and it has a rate of climb of 25.4 meters per second (5,000 ft/min) at its maximum gross weight. The avionics onboard include the Rockwell Collins Proline 21. The Challenger 300 model was originally created with Sketchup 13 and then converted to various 3D formats, with the native format being .skp and a 3ds Max 2016 version rendered with Vray 3.00.
