This 3D model was originally created with Sketchup 8, then converted to all other 3D formats. Native format is .skp, with a 3ds Max scene rendered using Vray 3.00 AA. The 787-9 will be the first variant of the 787 with a stretched fuselage that's 206 feet [63 m] long. It seats 250â290 passengers in three classes and has a range of 8,000 to 8,500 nautical miles {14,800 to 15,750 km}. The 787-9 differs from the 787-8 in several key ways: structural strengthening, a lengthened fuselage, higher fuel capacity, and a higher maximum take-off weight [MTOW], but with the same wingspan as the 787-8. Boeing plans to enter service in early 2014, initially targeting competition with Airbus A330 passenger variants and replacing its 767-400ER. The 787-9 will open up new non-stop routes like the 787-8. The official configuration was finalized on July 1st, 2010. At launch, it will have the same fuel capacity as the 787-8. However, design changes led to a slightly shorter range than the 787-8 due to higher weight. After consulting airlines, further design modifications added a forward tank to increase its fuel capacity, giving it a longer range and higher MTOW than the 787-8. Air New Zealand is the launch customer for the 787-9. The first 787-9 is now in final assembly and will roll out and begin test flights in August 2013.
