Templar Sword
thingiverse
I'm not a master craftsman when it comes to starting from scratch, but I've got some skills when it comes to tweaking and improving existing designs. I was after a Templar sword, and this one was the closest match to my vision that I could find online. After printing out the pieces and assembling them, I realized it wasn't coming together as smoothly as I had hoped, and it didn't feel quite right in my hand. So, as a way to brush up on my skills with various software tools, I decided to give the design a thorough remix to make it fit together better and feel more comfortable in my grip. As these things often do, it quickly spiralled out of control, and before I knew it, I had completely overhauled the entire project. It's still a work in progress, but I'm also working on creating a scabbard to go along with it. Next up, I plan to add some custom guards, so you can choose which one suits your style now that I've got the workflow down pat. When printing out the design, I recommend reducing the infill density on the blade segments as you get closer to the tip to minimize weight. You may also need a rubber mallet depending on how precise your 3D printer is.
