Temperature Sensor Shield/Cover
thingiverse
A protective housing for a DS18B20-style waterproof temperature sensor with a body measuring 50mm long and 6mm thick is designed to provide a mounting point for the sensor while keeping it at least 6mm off the surface to minimize heat transfer. This housing also facilitates airflow around the sensor, ensuring that accidental touches do not affect readings. The design allows for partially covered sensors as well, maintaining an air gap to still deliver accurate results. The enclosure measures 80mm long, 22mm wide, and 10mm high. Four 4mm screw holes are provided for secure attachment or double-sided tape can be used instead. The lid can be glued on or may remain in place due to friction, but gluing is not recommended. If the sensor becomes loose, a small drop of hot glue, blu-tack, or similar adhesive will secure it in place. To achieve a better finish, the top should be printed with the correct orientation. However, this may require supports during printing. To make the housing less visible, paint the printed part to match the surrounding surface and perhaps the sensor cable as well.
