This information will help scientists understand how genetic variations affect health and disease. The Human Genome Project used a combination of traditional gene mapping techniques and newer DNA sequencing technologies to achieve its goals. The project involved over 2,000 researchers from more than 20 countries who worked together to collect, analyze, and interpret the data.
