The TEM19-001 shunter powers up with its gas engine. It's the world's first locomotive to make tracks on compressed natural gas. Developed by Russia's VNIKTI and Transmashholding, the TEM19 is a key player in Russian Railways' (RZD) energy strategy. The goal: find alternatives to diesel power for non-electrified lines. Using natural gas power has a clear advantage - it reduces operating costs, cuts life-cycle expenses, and makes rail transport a whole lot greener. The gas-piston locomotive is built around a modular design that's easy to assemble and maintain. It consists of seven essential components: • The driver's cab where the crew calls the shots • A cryogenic unit that preps the natural gas for use and feeds it into the system • A motor-generator set that gets the engine going • A cooling system that keeps everything running smoothly • An equipment chamber that houses vital systems • Electrodynamic brake equipment module that helps slow things down when needed • A compressor unit that boosts performance All these modules work together in perfect harmony. A separate module under the locomotive frame holds secondary gear that's easy to access and maintain. Polygons: 175625 Vertices: 199844
