On Friday, November 20th, millions watched the Star Wars trailer with bated breath as a mysterious Sith Lord emerged from a snowy forest, wielding an unfamiliar configuration of the iconic lightsaber. Designers were taken aback by this new revelation, sparking curiosity about its effectiveness. As creators, we felt compelled to investigate and verify whether this "crossguard" design was truly optimal. We mobilized our 3D printing army to build one and put it through its paces. The movie's dark atmosphere and sparse details left room for interpretation and imagination. Amidst the plethora of existing 3D printable lightsabers available online, we aimed to create a completely customizable version that would push the boundaries of design. Our innovative modular system enables hundreds of configurations, ranging from Yoda's distinctive saber to Darth Maul's menacing blade.
