Telescope Sun Screen for Projecting Images of the Sun
thingiverse
I built this screen so you can safely watch the sun with a group of people during the upcoming solar eclipse in March 2015. NEVER LOOK DIRECTLY INTO THE SUN, whether you have optical instruments or not. Be aware that even with this screen in place, the heat from the sun can damage your telescope, so take measures to block out too much light. Usually, a lens cap with a smaller opening works well. Keep an eye on your audience, especially small children! Customize the Blend file for your telescope's unique requirements. You'll need: * A 5mm diameter carbon tube * Six M2 bolts and nuts * Two M3 bolts * An M4 bolt and nut/locknut * Screen material (you can use thicker paper or a PVC foil) Assembly instructions: Cut out the screen material to size. You can use a thicker type of paper, or a semi-transparent PVC foil like I did - it's matte on one side, which works great. A completely opaque material is even better, but this will still let you view the image from behind. Tap in two M3 threads for the carbon tube. Assemble all parts and you're good to go!
