Telescope eyepiece mount for iPhone 3GS (LaMee Labs)
thingiverse
To assemble the mount, snap together the two-piece iPhone 3GS holder with a standard 1 1/4" telescope eyepiece. This setup is ideal for party viewing or video feeds. For optimal use, secure the phone with a rubber band or velcro strap and ensure a snug fit by test fitting the barrel to the case before gluing. To adjust the tightness of the barrel, sand the inside gently with coarse sandpaper. For better focus control, lock the focus on the camera app and utilize a remote shutter control with inline volume toggle. The distance between the iPhone's camera and telescope eyepiece is approximately 8mm, which might result in a smaller field of view compared to the phone display. Makerbot build time for this model is around an hour. Photos attached were taken using a 4.5" refractor, showcasing the moon with a 'moon filter' and Jupiter with three moons. The design is created using Tinkercad.
