Teleporter Expansion for Khet 1.0 (Deflexion)
thingiverse
I'm absolutely crazy about Khet! It's essentially laser chess with some awesome expansions. Since I got my 3D printer, I've been dying to create something for Khet, and finally, I had an amazing idea: Teleporters. Easy to design, print, and implement. These teleporters are perfect for Khet 1.0 since that's all I have, but they could be easily scaled up to work with 2.0 if you know the exact dimensions. Below are the rules for playing Khet with teleporters and I've uploaded some cool images for the layouts of the standard setups with teleporters included. Keep in mind that the images I included are all untested except in my head, but I tried to make them super interesting and sometimes require movement of the teleporters. If you find a better starting position, please let me know, and I'll switch up my recommended setup to your awesome idea! If I've forgotten anything, if something is unclear, or if you encounter a situation that isn't covered by the rules, just ask and I'll update the rules ASAP. Rules: Kings (pharaohs) cannot step onto teleporters. All other pieces use one turn to step onto a teleporter and are instantly moved to the other teleporter before pressing the laser button. You may not rotate a piece during the movement from one teleporter to the other except to maintain the proper orientation. The teleporter has UP, DOWN, LEFT, and RIGHT positions. Pyramids point towards the sun; the sun is UP, and the base of the pyramid is DOWN. If a mirror is facing DOWN and LEFT when stepping on a "Pyramid", "Djed", or "Eye of Horus" game piece steps onto the teleporter, it must be facing DOWN and LEFT when landing on the new teleporter. Each teleporter may be moved individually as a normal game piece if it's empty. It can be moved one space on the board or rotated 90 degrees as one turn. Either player can move either teleporter during their turn as long as there's no piece currently occupying the teleporter you wish to move. If only one teleporter is occupied, the unoccupied teleporter may still be moved. Stepping off a teleporter counts as a regular move; it doesn't happen automatically after teleportation. If a destination teleporter is occupied when an origin teleporter is stepped onto by another piece, swap the places of the pieces while maintaining their proper rotations (think ring platforms in Stargate SG-1). Stacked Obelisks may teleport just like unstacked Obelisks and other game pieces. "Djed" or "Eye of Horus" can teleport or change places with a teleporter just as they would with other pieces with which they can change places. When playing with a "Tower of Kadesh", teleporters can be moved up and down the tower like any other piece; game pieces may teleport onto and off the tower following established rules. I think that covers everything! I hope you love the idea and enjoy playing with teleporters! If you don't have Khet, please grab it at your local game shop or online. Instructions are available on how to assemble your printed pieces: Print settings: Speed: 100 mm/s Temperature: 210 Resolution:.2
