TEKTRONIX 465 - "B" DELAY Cam Engagement Dog
thingiverse
Description of Problem: The “B” timing cam switch actuator (referred to later as “the dog” or “dog”) is a well known failure in certain 465 and possibly other scopes in the 4XX series. It has been brought to my attention that this part is used on certain 5xxx and 7xxx series plug ins (Specifically the 7B53 Horizontal plug-in for 7000 series scopes ) as well as the 465 scopes. The original part was a plastic engagement device molded directly onto the stainless steel “B” control shaft. This “dog” mates with the recesses in the interior of the plastic cam and allows the “A” and “B” cams to operate together or independently, yet always remaining in the correct relationship with one another. This shaft with the plastic part was not available separately, it is part of the Cam Switch Actuator Assembly, which is no longer available. If this dog breaks (and they often do, because they get old and brittle) the “B” cam stops moving and the scope generally becomes useless, since the two cams are now almost always out of sync. This can be done with a minimum of tools, by a competent technician. When properly installed, this component will restore the function of 105-0614-00 to original performance. This part was installed in my 465 scope (B260935) and tested for proper operation.
