After three decades, my sister managed to track down my old buddy who I had long forgotten. He still sported a missing eye, a grim reminder of his rough past. I decided to craft a miniature eyeball to match the creepy hand he had been rocking for years. My daughter now gets a little spooked by it (and so do I), but I convinced her that he's actually a cybernetic teddy bear equipped with a bug-detecting eye and a laser-firing hand, tasked with keeping unwanted insects out of her room while she sleeps. She seemed to buy into the story, bless her heart!
