I replaced the worn-out footrest on my gym exerciser with a custom-printed part. To get it just right, I took precise measurements of the original part and fed them into my printer. However, when the big plastic piece came out, it had shrunk a bit due to the heat from the printing process - by about 6-10%. So now, I recommend printing these kinds of large parts slightly bigger than needed to account for this shrinkage effect.
