Tealight Max - suitable for any thing
thingiverse
I set out to design a simple tealight that could be easily integrated into any object, and I finally succeeded in creating one. Here's a video of it in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dny12pFuBjk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufys6ERe9i8 This tealight is quite large and uses an AA battery, with plans to create a 2xAA version in the future. It also features a simple Joliethef for powering the LED. Here's what you'll need to make one of these: * Springy wire (like paper clips) for the battery contact - check its resistance (less is better) * AA battery * LED (I used RGB LEDs and white warm steady light versions) * On/off switch (project using these switches) * Joliethef components: + Toroid core + NPN transistor (or PNP depending on the Jolie thief version) + Resistor (1K-20K, less resistance = more light but also drains more power from the battery) + Wire for the coils + Additional diode and capacitor for smooth color changing (optional) For the Jolie thief, refer to existing projects online and do some soldering. To use this tealight with any object: 1. Use your slicer (I used Slic3r Prusa edition) 2. Pick your model, prepare it as usual, and make sure it's empty inside 3. Align it center 4. Add a "screw" file and align it wherever you want 5. Add a modifier to the first model (cylinder with radius 10 and height 10) 6. Slice it and check if it's okay This tealight uses a Jolie thief, which can drain batteries very low, making them usable again. Here are some designs I used my tealight with: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:75582 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1864269 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:193814 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2025373 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:19104 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1652279 UPDATE (25.12.2018): I added a screw for sphere-like items.
