Teal Drone Quick Release System
thingiverse
Hey all, I'm excited to share this, my first design, with you. I want to be upfront - I'm not a graphic designer by trade, and this is still a work in progress. That being said, I've been looking at the other entries and it's clear that many of these awesome designs will go unused because of laziness. It's too much trouble to unscrew 8 screws and reconfigure internal components (I'm looking at you VTX and RFI Chip) just to swap out a top plate. So, I've designed a quick change system for the Teal Drone that makes it easy to switch out tops without needing any tools. With just a few button presses, you'll be able to slide off the top cover - no screws to remove or tools required. The M3 screws will act as pins to hold the arms in place while a spring-assisted button keeps them snug. Once I'm done, you can remix this onto any of the competition entries and make swapping out top plates and motors a breeze. I've made some updates since posting - added holes to the bottom plate for better stability, redesigned the object using OnShape with proper threads for M3 screws that clip together (resistance fit), and even used a small spring to provide resistance. It's still a work in progress, but I'm excited about where this is going. Here's a crude mix of the teal cover and quick release assembly - it's not perfect yet, but you get the idea. And, as an added bonus, I've reduced the entire design by 2mm and redesigned the button to have a middle track and sloped edges. Up next: * Smooth out edges * Incorporate examples into top plate
