A quaint structure on Mothecombe beach catches the eye, the small "teahouse" nestled into the cliffs on the far side. Once a lime burning kiln, in 1875 two additional rooms were built on the front, featuring a fireplace, to provide separate changing facilities for women and men who swam either in the ocean or the nearby saltwater swimming pool. For decades, its roaring fire has been a beloved sight to generations of kids who can't resist the allure of the sea - even in the coldest winter months!
