This is an Octopus tool holder 'Octo-Tool' designed for the LulzBot TAZ 6 3D Printer - it fits all tools that come with this machine but can be easily modified for a custom set of tools. Check out the blog post about this design at http://richrap.blogspot.co.uk/2017/04/taz6-octo-tool-holder-and-reminder-that.html Watch the YouTube video here. Print the Octopus model on the TAZ 6 at full scale. You will also need to print one 20mm aluminum clip holder. The required materials are two M3 nuts and some 6mm M3 bolts with a flat or dome head. Remove the top left section of your TAZ6 Z-axis mount (see images). Insert the clip holder into this location, secure it by tightening the M3 bolts when placed in the desired position. Now you can thermo-form your Octo-Tool to any shape or tentacle position you prefer. Just make sure not to obstruct the moving X axis on the machine. If you also print out a hex tool holder that fits into a tentacle, bend it upwards. A medium-sized glue stick will fit perfectly into a closed-up tentacle on the model. The top tool holder is designed for the TAZ6 and can be slotted onto the left-hand Z-axis mount using existing bolts. Just slightly loosen them, slot in the holder, then tighten it. This fits pliers and many SD cards for the machine. The main idea behind this design is to show how a 3D print can become something more exciting and useful after printing. So if you have an idea, consider making it easy to print and thermo-forming afterwards.
