Taz Pro Lead Screw Design Conversion
thingiverse
Hello Internet, This is a mod to build a Taz Pro using lead screws. If you're building from scratch, download the Taz Pro 1.0.7 design files from Lulzbot and use these files as needed. The X carriage parts are designed for 12mm rails from a Taz 6, so no need for longer smooth rails. Lulzbot extended the rails and increased BOM cost unnecessarily; just bump grub screw mounts slightly to reach. This Lead Screw design is for the Taz Pro with Z-Nuts and Z-Lead screws as used in a Taz 6. If you build the frame to Taz Pro spec or use a pre-built frame from Lulzbot, this mod will lower your Z-Volume by 27mm. You'll need to alter firmware because of reduced height and lead screw design. Default LulzBot firmware won't work due to speed differences between lead screws and Z-belt drive on the Pro. Here are key changes needed in Marlin Configuration.h and Configuration_adv.h: define ENDSTOPS_ALWAYS_ON_DEFAULT define DEFAULT_AXIS_STEPS_PER_UNIT {100, 100, 1600, 420} define DISABLE_INACTIVE_Z true define Z_PROBE_SPEED_FAST 300 define Z_PROBE_SPEED_SLOW 60 define DEFAULT_MAX_ACCELERATION {9000, 9000, 100, 9000} define DEFAULT_MAX_FEEDRATE {300, 300, 3, 25} define HOMING_FEEDRATE_Z 180 define MANUAL_FEEDRATE {2340, 2340, 240, 60.0} define Z_MAX_POS 274 This was a skunkworks project for me; I provide this in case it's useful to someone else, but at your own risk and without support. Use at your own risk.
