Taz Bulldog Holder
thingiverse
Taz 4 Bulldog Extruder holder usiing a E3d V6 1.75mm hotend. Its my first attempt. I modified the original holder from Lutz. Will see how it works. (Update 12/11/2016) Modified the design to version 1.2. Expanded the base and made some adjustments to the hot end plate area, it was a bit too tight. Also added heatset holes (4mm) to mount a fan for the hotend. There are two versions one with a fan shroud and one without. Still testing. (Update 12/12/2016) Printed the one with the fan shroud as I had one of these fan types laying around. The fan shroud didn't print well as my support settings were screwed up, I usually don't use support. Also the bottom hole for the fan was off... I'll blame that on Sketchup... should have used fusion. Having said that after a very little bit of cleanup it went together okay, and this should be good enough for testing. See the photos. I need to open up the horizontal opening for the mount just a tad. Now to test it. I'll wire it all up as soon as my connectors arrive from Digikey. Hopefully it all works as I have been needing a 1.75mm hotend to eat up all the 1.75mm filament I have. I plan on moving the fan back a bit and printing a separate detachable fan shroud I removed and depreciated version 1.1 as it was not going to work. (Update 12/12/2016) Hashed together a harness and got it working today, see video here: https://youtu.be/p1RlwsWjp7o Printed a 5mm calibration cube after doing a quick extruder cal. It came out okay, still need to fine tune it, but I'm about to upgrade this printer to a TAZ 6, have all the parts, now I have a working 1.75mm toolhead to go with my 3mm toolhead... A couple of things you need to know. The X home position is now about 15mm off the edge of the bed. You will have to re calibrate the esteps, you can start with 500 as a ballpark.
