Taz 6 print cooling fan ducts
thingiverse
This is a custom pair of fan ducts designed specifically for the Taz 6.\r\nI set out to experiment with bridging, noticing that the stock fan ducts were angled too low, aiming directly below the nozzle tip. Additionally, I found it frustrating that removing the fan was necessary before taking off the fan duct while working on the printer. The stock fan duct also blocks about a quarter of the airflow.\r\nMy initial assessment is that these new fan ducts may not significantly improve bridging performance. It appears that my two slicers are not well-equipped to handle this feature. Slic3r often fails to detect bridges, treating them as regular layers instead. Even when it does recognize a bridge, the fill on test bridges doesn't extend over supports and only attaches to the side of previous extruded lines. Cura takes an even more limited approach, not recognizing bridges at all and only allowing support material to be added.\r\n\r\nThe design features a variable that lets you choose between creating a left duct or a right duct. The right duct includes a mount for the limit switch, while left and right ducts are mirror images of each other. Since the design is currently symmetrical, this option will only become relevant if you offset the fans.
