Taz 6 optical filament runout sensor
thingiverse
I remixed the original to use with my Taz 6's feed tube spinner. I added a few viewing holes so you can see the LED once installed. The original is at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1646220. Crunch3D had a great list of resources, which I copied from his remix. OctoPrint is located at http://octoprint.org/, and the Filament Plugin is available at https://github.com/MoonshineSG/OctoPrint-Filament. The Filament Sensor I used is the SainSmart Optical Endstop Switch, found at https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EVOKHPO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. For Pi wiring information, visit https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/usage/gpio/. Example Wiring: G - ground goes to the Ground on the Pi, S - signal connects to GPIO 18 (the 6th one down on the right), and V - volt is connected to 5V on the Pi. Print Settings for my LulzBot TAZ 6 are as follows: Rafts: No, Supports: Yes, Resolution: .2, Infill: 70%. I printed it in ABS because that was what was already in my machine. It has a snug fit on the module and shouldn't even need screws.
