TAZ 6 Enclosure - Foam Insulation and Foil Tape
thingiverse
After weeks of deliberation and scouring local hardware stores for the perfect TAZ 6 enclosure, this is the solution I ultimately chose. It cost me a whopping total of $30 at the local supply store. The finished product measures 3/4 inches thick (14.5"x48") and consists of styrofoam insulation boards, precision-cut to size, wrapped in strips of reflective foil insulation tape on all interior faces for heat reflection and along edges and corners for added structural integrity. Although the individual pieces of foam are fragile, once assembled, they form a sturdy unit. I discovered that the foam boards came packaged in sets of six for $10 each, while the foil tape sold for $20 per 4-inch wide roll. The accompanying Excel file outlines the precise cutting instructions required to create all necessary components from a single set of six foam boards. To ensure I had enough tape, I used it sparingly, managing to finish all interior faces and most edges with a single roll, but barely. The front top section can be left intact as a separate piece that serves as a top door for quick access. With this enclosure, I achieve temperatures in the 50-60 C range, measured at the top, allowing me to print ABS with ease.
