Just unboxed my TAZ 4 printer, really itching to add LED lights like I had on my previous machine - a big game-changer for easy viewing and clear visibility while printing. Since it's still under warranty, I didn't want to start modifying right away. That's why I chose to take advantage of the modular mount designed for the extruder. It has 4 bolts (as you can see in the attached photo), providing the perfect spot to attach some strong magnets. The LED strip that caught my eye was 24v - exactly what my system requires, making it easy to hook up right there as a replacement for the fan. Most of my prints are ABS-based, so I just removed the fan altogether; whenever I switch back to PLA, I can swap in the fan again within minutes. Instructions Printing this part is straightforward and effortless without any need for support materials. Two magnets with a diameter of 10mm and width of 3.2mm (or something close) are required. Use strong epoxy adhesive to secure them into place through their respective holes. Next, grab yourself an adequate 24v LED strip that suits your printer's setup - I used one that measured 100mm in length by 10mm in width with a built-in self-adhesive backing for hassle-free mounting. Before setting everything up, you'll need to disconnect and remove the existing fan, keeping it handy as this modification doesn't suit PLA printing setups. A custom plug sourced from Mouser can help connect the LED strip directly into the fan socket to keep things organized and efficient. To bring your modified setup to life, download some printer software capable of turning the LED lights on or off and even controlling their brightness like fan speed adjustment options. Assembly couldn't be easier! Simply slide the mount over those prominent bolts (the exact same bolts you see in that included photo) before carefully nudging it into its maximum possible position. The outcome should result in a pleasing 30-degree angle lighting setup, expertly illuminating your entire printing zone with crystal-clear clarity and no dark corners to obstruct vision or quality.
