This is a "hat" that fits over the top of the Lulzbot Taz Y axis motor mount that allows a 14 mm dia x 5mm thick x 5mm shaft 605zz bearing to fit on the upper portion of the shaft just above the belt mount.

This project also includes a remix of the Lulzbot taz Y axis motor mount variant 2.4 (which will fit a taz 1-5) It is reinforced in several places, has smaller mounting holes for the motor, some clearance for a motor vibration damper, reinforced sides and gussets, and space down below for a future cable path mounting cover thing that doesn't yet exist. you will need 2 M2 heat set inserts and 2 m3 heat set inserts to fully leverage those features. the motor mount is however optional and can be ignored if you just want the bearing thingy. The hat will fit a Taz 6, the optional mount will not fit a 6.

Development thread here:
https://forum.lulzbot.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=6846

To use: source 2mm longer m3 motor mount bolts. Insert the M3 and M2 heat set inserts into the optional motor mount in the usual way. Use the stock mounting hardware to attach the motor mount and limit switch. Stick the bearing in the top of the cap, bolt everything down, and you're all set.

Print instructions

Unassociated tags: motor mount, y axis

Category: 3D Printer Parts Summary

I find it works best if you print it top down on the bed and generate support for the overhang. You could also flip it the other way, but you risk a warped bearing pocket that way. The motor mount can be printed as is without support.
